Visita Iglesia: Rizal Province Churches

Since this is my first time to blog, I do not know where and how to start. But, because I really do want to make one, I sat down and start composing and inserting pictures. Erasing, deleting and changing pictures, undo and re Do, until ... I have this ... Visita Iglesia: Rizal Province Churches ... YEAH!

My family decided to celebrate the Lenten season visiting the churches in Rizal Province. We leave the house after lunch and headed going East. My children would like to start from St. John the Baptist Parish in Taytay, going up. Along the way, as we talked, we decided to go to Regina Rica since we saw from Google that it closes at around 5pm, but before that we visited San Antonio de Padua Parish since it is suggested by a friend and is along the way and we were already fronting the gate of St. Anthony Subdivision. It's been so good to be able to know this exists and visited because it is really near and the feeling is very solemn once you are inside. To me it is like a big adoration chapel.

Me :))

Here we are ... time check 2:00 pm heading to our next stop Towards Brgy. Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal. As we Tanay proper nears we encountered heavy traffic, crossing along the highway going to Tanay proper and Barangay Sampaloc. So, we make a right turn to go straight to Tanay proper and eat first :) and wait for the traffic to subside and little did we know that it is Because there's a jam-pack going to Regina Rica ... patience ... Patince :))

And long last we arrived at Sitio iron wood, along Marcos Highway Brgy Sampaloc. You will never be lost Because there are signs along the road just like the above picture. It is already getting dark when we arrived and the parking area is full. The gate is about 200 meters from the highway and about another hundred step to see Regina Rica on top of the hill from afar. We were greeted with along the pile. And we thank the good sisters for allowing us for its already 6:15 PM. Visiting time is from 9AM to 5pm.

To get to Regina Rica statue we have to pass the Mary's Sacred Trail or the commonly Called the 'S' trail from the top Because it is viewed like an 'S'. And Because it is already dark we were not able to take a picture of that and the other facilities, like the K akahuyan and P asilungan ... maybe next time.

San Ildefonso Parish - Tanay, Rizal

Tanay Church is one of the 26 churches in the Philippines chosen by the National Commission for Culture and Arts as a national heritage site. It is one of the oldest churches in Manila and holds many artifacts centuries. It is also one of the Jubilee churches in the Philippines.

The 14 Stations of the Cross inside the church has an anomaly that can hardly be missed, The first twelve bears marks and features revealing the Malayan native or incorporated Such characteristics as the somewhat squat appearance of the figures, including Jesus, the use of "Trumpet "made from carabao horn and of the" sword "or native bolo instead of the usual Roman sword, while the last two bears that are unmistakably Caucasian features. Although I the construction of the Stations of the Cross were not recorded in the books of the church, it is widely believed that the first twelve were done by a native artist of Tanay. Another anomaly is usually noticed in the 7 th station where visitors by Caiaphas, the High Priest wears a sunglass. All told, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful Stations of the Cross in all of Asia. -Wiki

We were completely awed by the beauty of the Altar.

St. John the Baptist Parish - Taytay, Rizal

Saint John the Baptist Parish is located in Barangay San Isidro, Taytay, Rizal. Founded in 1579. It is the second oldest parish in the Diocese of Antipolo.

The marker on the church reads:
"Previously made from light materials, it was built by Franciscan missionaries near the Manila Bay in 1579. It was separated as the church of Santa Ana de Sapa in 1583. It was transferred to its present location by Father Pedro Chirino in 1591 and the town was named San Jose del Monte. It was the first stone church outside of Manila. The second, larger stone church, as it is right now, was rebuilt by Father Juan de Salazar in 1630. The roof of the church was destroyed by a strong typhoon in 1632. It was repaired under the secular in 1768, and under the Augustinian recollects in 1864. It was again burned During the Filipino-American War in 1899. It was expanded to sustain the growing population During the early years of the 1970's. "
